Hairstyling Tools and Product Application

With the high quality tools available for home use and salon products it is now easier than ever to create good day-to-day hair styles quickly.

To establish the best products to use for your particular hair type and style, always ask your stylist.  All Ash stylists have extensive product knowledge and are experts in their application.

Blow drying Techniques

Because hair is porous it responds well to the application of hot and cold air in combination.  For example, when blow drying a section of hair with a brush apply hot air to dry the section and finish with cold air on the same section.  By finishing with the cold air your hair will hold its shape better than using hot air alone.

If you wish to create good root lift apply warm air followed by cold air to the roots when the hair is wrapped around a large brush.   By using the warm air/cold air combination you will create more hold.

Applying Products to Finish Hair

A common mistake made by most people is to apply too much product at the wrong time resulting in either the wrong look or wasting money.

When using waxes or pastes to create more textured effects remember to first emulsify the product in your hands before applying it to your hair.  Once the product has been well worked through the hair use the hot and cold air combination (as above) to create the look you are looking for, as paste products respond extremely well to this technique
